Νέα 12-01-2011: Αρχικά να ευχαριστήσουμε όλους όσους ανταποκρίθηκαν, και ας μην χρειάστηκαν τελικά, μιας και η ανταπόκριση στο κολάρο ήταν πιο γρήγορη απ' ότι περιμέναμε.  Στην αρχή του έγινε ηρεμιστική ένεση και για 10 ώρες περίπου ήταν αγκαλίτσα με εθελοντές που τον χάιδευαν, του μιλούσαν, οπότε κι αυτός κάθησε ήσυχος και δεν αντιδράει πια. Το φοράει συνεχώς. Χθες μάλιστα πήγαμε και βόλτα η οποία ήταν θεαματική και ξεκαρδιστική, μιας και ο Βούδας κουτουλούσε διαρκώς στα πόδια μου προσπαθώντας και να είναι κοντά μου, και να χαρεί τη βόλτα και να μυρίσει τα πάντα γύρω - γύρω!
Το πόδι πλέον πάει μια χαρά και δεν θα περάσουν πολλές μέρες μέχρι να θεραπευθεί τελείως. Στην επόμενη ενημέρωση θα υπάρχουν και καινούριες φωτογραφίες.

Update 12-01-2011: At first we would like to thank eveyone who contacted in order to help with Buddha, even if their "services" weren't acquired, since Buddha adopted to he elisabethan collar very well after all.
Initially he was given a mild sedative and he spent the first ten hours with cuddle and talk. He was just fine. Felt sure and safe.
We even went on a hillarious walk yesterday since he was stumbling on me all the time trying to stay close, and at the same time enjoy the walk and smell everything all around!
Wearing the elisabethan collar prevents licking and biting wounds, and he will be good to go in a few days.

Νέα 09-01-2011: Χρειαζόμαστε εθελοντές για να προσέχουν τον Βούδα (όταν τον χαιδεύεις κάθεται ακίνητος και δεν αντιδρά στο κολάρο) με βάρδιες για 2 με τρεις ημέρες προκειμένου να ανεχθεί το κολάρο. Άρχισε να δαγκώνει την πληγή, η οποία φτάνοντας στο οριστικό κλείσιμο μάλλον τον φαγουρίζει πολύ.  Όποιος μπορεί ας επικοινωνήσει μαζί μας.

Update 09 - 01 - 2011: We are in immediate need of volunteers to stay with Buddha on a roll, two or three hours each one every day, for three days tops. His trauma is almost healed by now, but extremely itchy and he is biting on it constantly, so he has to put on an elisabethan collar, to which he shows no tolerance unless someone pets him and talks to him all the time.

Νέα 01-01-2011: Η πληγή του Βούδα πάει πάρα πολύ καλά. Είναι εξαιρετικά συνεργάσιμος, άρχισε να χαλαρώνει στη βόλτα και να μην προσπαθεί να κρυφτεί, και σύντομα θα είναι πάρα πολύ καλά. Ήταν τόσο απλό τελικά. Απλώς χρειαζόταν κάποιος να τον οδηγήσει στον συνεργαζόμενο γιατρό...

Update 01-01-2011: Buddha's trauma is healing very fast, and he is very co-operative. He is taken for walks by volynteers, and already started to enjoy walking with someone. No longer trying so hard to get back in the cage. It was very simple really, after all. Someone just had to take him to the associate veterinarian...

Τέσσερα και παραπάνω χρόνια, από τότε που ήταν κουτάβι, έγκλειστος στο κυνοκομείο, νομίζει ότι αυτό είναι το σπίτι του και τρέμει προσπαθώντας να κρυφτεί όταν βγαίνει από το κελί του.

Με χαρακτήρα ήπιο, καθόλου επιθετικός, καρτερικός κατά την περιποίηση των τραυμάτων του, αναρωτιέμαι πως δεν δόθηκε για υιοθεσία. Η μόνη απάντηση που μπορώ να βρω είναι ότι τον ξέχασαν.

Χωρίς αρχεία και φωτογραφίες, κανείς δεν ξέρει ακριβώς πότε μπήκε, πότε χτύπησε για πρώτη φορά το πόδι του, πως το χτύπησε, και όντας ήσυχος, ζώντας αδιαμαρτύρητα μέρα με την ημέρα, ξεχάστηκε στο τελευταίο κελί της πρώτης πτέρυγας.

Ο ένας από τους φύλακες δηλώνει πως το πόδι του είναι σε αυτή την κατάσταση (ανοίγει και κλείνει περιοδικά) τα τελευταία χρόνια.

Διάγνωση: περιοστίτιδα και ιστόλυση.

Η θεραπεία απλή: Αντιβίωση.

Πλέον όμως θα πάρει πάρα πολύ χρόνο να θεραπευθεί και σίγουρα αυτό δεν γίνεται μέσα στο περιβάλλον του κυνοκομείου.

Ο κούκλος θα φιλοξενηθεί για νοσηλεία στον συνεργαζόμενο με τον Δήμο κτηνίατρο προκειμένου να αναρρώσει. Παράλληλα θα αναζητούμε προσωρινή στέγη προκειμένου να κοινωνικοποιηθεί με ανθρώπους και ζώα, ελπίζοντας πως θα βρεθεί στοργική οικογένεια που με πολλή υπομονή και αγάπη θα του διδάξει τις χαρές της ζωής.

More than four years, since his puppyhood, he spent in the municipality shelter. His whole life. And he thinks that's life, locked up in a cell, ignored, that's his home, he knows no other ,and tries to run back in when taken outside.

He has a very mild character, so co-operative, so patient and serene, so thankfull but still afraid, that makes me wonder how come he didn't find a home up to now.

The aswer comes to be very simple: Ignored and forgotten.

Without any records being kept, nobody knows exactly when he came in, when his leg was hurt  for the first time and how, and being so quiet and tolerant, living day by day without any demands, he bacame forgotten in the last cell of the first wing - even by those who claimed to be animal lovers and "fought" for his rights.

One of the employees states that his leg has been like that on and off on periods of time, over the last year. 

When the veterenarian was asked he said "the case doesn't ring a bell"...

Diagnosis: open trauma, periostitis and dissolution of tissue (histolysis).

The cure really simple: antibiotics

No further comment on that!

Our volunteers took him to the doctor. He is staying there to be treated properly. At the same time, we are trying to find a temporary home - the cure is going to take a long while because of the severity of the previous neglect - so that he can be socialised with people and discover how fun life can be!
